A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our TSL 2022 Partner Power Summit: CLIMATE JUSTICE, which took place on 11-16 July 2022.
We welcomed 69 students from 31 countries to debate ‘Addressing inequality will combat the climate crisis’ and 22 guest speakers from 19 countries explored with participants topics including educational and intergenerational inequality, gender inequality, socioeconomic inequality and indigenous and racial inequality, through a series of workshops and panel discussions.
Highlights from 2022
The 2022 International Student Debates took place on 11-12 July. The Debates were held online for the third year in a row and we were delighted to have 69 student debaters from 31 countries taking part.
The Debates took place as part of our online Partner Power Summit: CLIMATE JUSTICE (11-12 July). The Summit featured a range of engaging workshops and inspiring speakers and panel discussions, designed to help inform and empower students, parents and teachers in a shared journey to a more sustainable and climate just world.

Workshops
Our Compass Education workshop allowed us to use a systems thinking tool called the Sustainability Compass to explore and consider the value of intergenerational dialogue using from the different perspectives of, Nature, Economy, Society and Wellbeing.
YOUNGO’s Reducing Inequality and Inclusion Rights Working group joined us to discuss why they had been set up and the role they are playing in making conversations on climate justice more accessible.
Lena Prouchet debunked some of the myths she has encountered while working with indigenous people and climate action
Gillian Bowser shared her thoughts on how we can increase equity and diversity in science and climate justice
Vassilis Gkoumas explored the potential of nature based solutions as a way of combating the climate crisis and how they can be implemented and financed equitably
Earthshot prize finalist and student Vinisha Umashankar shared her tips on innovation and entrepreneurship as she talked though the creation of her solar ironing cart.

Each country taking part in the Debates was represented by its four top-performing students in the Essay Competition, with all other students participating as Non-debating Students.
The online Partner Power Summit explored how young people and schools can become more involved in supporting and promoting Climate Justice
