Teacher Training
The Trust for Sustainable Living is active in the space of training for teachers, enabling them to be well-prepared for delivering their instruction. 70% of UK teachers believe they are are not adequately prepared to teach about climate change and sustainability overall (Teach the Future, 2021). TSL’s work, in collaboration with the University of Reading’s Institute of Education, as well as with other partners, is making a real difference to the knowledge and skills of teachers and ensuring lessons for students on these essential topics are high quality. Another example of TSL’s active work is our partnership with Renaissance Foundation, providing Youth sustainability training to young carers and patients in London. TSL is also a member of the National Climate Education Planning Group, supporting the implementation of the Department of Education’s Climate and Sustainability Education Strategy. On top of this, through TSL’s international outreach to 120 countries and more than 3000 teacher champions since 2012 participating in the sustainability essay and debating competitions, the charity is also able to support teachers worldwide with impactful climate and sustainability education training.
