My Vision for Sustainability Education
Our intention is to help young people explore what Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and a sustainable future mean to them. There is no single right answer – indeed, we fully expect student’s answers to depend on their own experiences and where they live in the world.
We are looking for original answers from young people who are not afraid to ‘have a go’ at considering the topic from their own unique perspectives.
Nonetheless, here are a few web resources which Teacher Champions and students may find useful:
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) – As lead agency for the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development and the follow-up Global Action Programme, UNESCO offers a wealth of material, including:
- Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) homepage
- World Conference on ESD (November 2014, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan)
- Shaping the Future We Want (the Final Report of the UN DESD)
- Global Action Programme on ESD (the follow-up to the UN DESD)
